Our Hand in Hand (VIC) way

Our experienced team is here to help you find the best care fit. We are committed to making lives better by assisting people to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own living space.

We are an independent and fully audited NDIS-compliant business supporting participants across Victoria. We incorporate a holistic and therapeutic approach to all services we deliver and those we support. We believe everyone deserves the best chance and quality of life and are committed to making that a reality.

We are an NDIS register provider. We can work with Self-funded as well as NDIS - NDIA managed, Self-managed, Plan managed, and Client fees for service participants.

Katalin leads the HiH VIC team. Before establishing Hand in Hand VIC in 2019, Katalin worked in crisis care settings and as a disability support worker. She has supported people with complex support needs and trauma backgrounds as a support worker and coordinator. Katalin takes a holistic approach and reflects on her client's lived experiences to ensure support is delivered appropriately.

Katalin completed her Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies via Griffith University and a Positive Behaviour Support training via Monash University. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Business Operation Management) from Charles Sturt University. Katalin is an active member of the NDIS domain and attends several NDIS and NDIA-organised conferences a year.

Within NDIS, Katalin has diverse experience, from arranging general day-to-day services and therapy to handling critical crises. She has had the pleasure of supporting people with different needs that are physical, intellectual and/or psychosocial, which has allowed her to maintain a diverse knowledge base.

Supporting people with multiple diagnoses is familiar to her. She works well when numerous stakeholders or government departments require coordination to deliver support. This may include Health/Mental Health, Communities, Justice, or Education departments. Katalin holds a particular interest in supporting participants in complex housing challenges.

Katalin's client's preferences and goals are a priority to her. Her lived experiences and her passion for supporting participants with disabilities define her service delivery. She will always aim to deliver consistent, timely, and tailored support.

Hand in Hand (VIC) and Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Belabour Support is an evidence-based approach with a primary goal of increasing a person’s quality of life and a secondary goal of decreasing the frequency and severity of their challenging behaviours.

Our approach is a comprehensive assessment, planning and intervention that focuses on addressing the person’s needs, their home environment and overall quality of life. Positive Behaviour Support is about working with families and carers to develop a shared understanding of why the person has a need to engage in challenging behaviour.

As Support Coordinators, some of the ways we can assist include:

  • helping the participant understand their daily life using clearer ways of communicating with them, such as introducing a picture schedule

  • changing the environment to make where they live and work better for him/ her (such as reducing high noise levels)

  • improving the person’s lifestyle so they have more interesting and enjoyable activities to keep them involved and connected with their community, such as helping the person gain employment and supporting recreational or other activities of interest

  • change the environment so the person is involved in meaningful and positive relationships with other

Key components of our Positive Behaviour Support Approach:

  • Person-centred approach

  • Inclusion of relevant stakeholders

  • Assessment-based intervention

  • Assist in the creation and following of a Behaviour support plan

  • Reduction in aversive or punishment approaches

  • Skill building

  • Staff development
